Colorado stocks: BioFuel Energy shares soar 57%

News that hedge-fund manager David Einhorn has acquired a larger stake in BioFuel Energy Corp. sent the Denver company?s stock soaring Friday.

Shares of BIOF rose 57 percent in heavy trading. The stock gained $1.71 to end at $4.71 and the company, which normally has an average daily volume of about 51,000 shares, saw 1.7 million shares change hands.

Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. (CMG) stood out among actively traded Colorado stocks for its gain of 7.94 percent. The stock closed up $24.02 to $326.35. The restaurant company has the highest share price of any Colorado company.

Among other actively traded stocks, the others with the biggest advances were:

? PDC Energy Inc. (PDCE): up 6.09 percent, or $1.85, to $32.21.

? Berry Petroleum Co. (BRY): up 5.24 percent, or $1.93, to $38.79.

? Molycorp Inc. (MCP): up 4.92 percent, or 56 cents, to $11.94.

? Pilgrim?s Corp. (PPC): up 4.74 percent, or 24 cents, to $5.30.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 14 points to close at 13,306. The S&P 500 added nearly 6 points to end at 1,437. Nasdaq closed at 3,136 after adding less than a point.

Colorado stocks closed largely up, with only six companies posting declines greater than 1 percent.

Gasco Energy Inc. topped the list of companies that lost ground, with shares of GSX dropping 4.53 percent. The price was off a penny to close at 14 cents.

CGS Systems International Inc. was the actively traded stock with the biggest decline. Shares of CSGS fell 3.58 percent, or 78 cents, to end at $21.02.
